SUMMARY:Songsmith Sundays with Carter Felker
DESCRIPTION:Every week\, country-folk singer-songwriter Carter Felker presents a chill weekend set with a rotating cast of guests. \nThis family-friendly show is best paired with our delicious Sunday brunch! \nBrunch menu: https://kingeddy.ca/menu \nAbout Carter Felker: \nBorn and raised in the Prairies\, Carter Felker’s eyes have seen the length of the wheat fields through many winter mornings\, and the stretch of the sun through many short-lived summers. He has laboured\, he has lost\, and he has loved. Carter uses his own experience\, and his desire to tell a story to create honest\, human-made\, country music. \n“Carter Felker traffics in music\, yes\, but even more profoundly in essence: the humdrum essence of Monday morning alarms clocks coming round again during lifetimes ticking on through thoughtless dawn moments walking across the kitchen floor; the craven essence of sneaking wordlessly away from a relationship and feeling the mute screen door sag shut behind you; the essence of everyday struggles.” – MLW \n— \nMusic starts at 11:30 amNo cover

SUMMARY:Globe Cinema Presents: I Shot Andy Warhol (1996)
DESCRIPTION:Globe Cinema Presents: I Shot Andy Warhol (1996) \nThe scintillating feature debut of Mary Harron (American Psycho) and one of the most controversial independent films of the 1990s\, I Shot Andy Warhol stars an electric Lili Taylor as Valerie Solanas\, a militant feminist whose attempted murder of Andy Warhol brought instant fame to her radically anti-male SCUM Manifesto. Dropping out of grad school in the midsixties\, the brilliant yet volatile Solanas survived in New York City as a destitute artist\, sex worker\, and panhandler\, soon striking up a friendship with Warhol superstar Candy Darling that brought her briefly into the orbit of the world’s premier pop artist.  \n\nWith vivid\, hallucinatory attention to historical detail\, Harron captures the explosive cross-pollination of New York’s political and artistic countercultures as well as the creativity\, snobbery\, and decadence at the heart of the legendary Factory. Anchored by pitch-perfect performances—and featuring a blistering score by John Cale as well as covers of sixties hits by some of the nineties’ most iconic bands (R.E.M.\, Wilco)—I Shot Andy Warhol is an incisive portrait of a rebel without an outlet and the soon-to-be-lost generation she came to define.  \n \nGenre: Drama\, Biography \nDirector: Mary Harron \nStars: Lili Taylor\, Jared Harris\, Martha Plimpton \nRunning time: 1 hr 43 min \nRating: 14A (Coarse Language\, Sexual Content)  \n\nDebit\, credit\, and tap only for payment. No cash accepted.

SUMMARY:G'ddy Up!
DESCRIPTION:Newzones is pleased to present G’ddy Up!\, our annual summer group exhibition celebrating Calgary’s western spirit through a contemporary artistic lens. \nPresented in conjunction with the Calgary Stampede\, G’ddy Up! brings together works by Kevin Sonmor\, Dianne Bos\, Evelyne Brader-Frank\, Casey McGlynn\, and other gallery artists whose work reflects the landscapes\, traditions\, and visual culture that have shaped the West. Through painting\, photography\, sculpture\, and mixed media\, the exhibition explores how artists continue to reinterpret western subjects and imagery in fresh and unexpected ways. \nAt once playful\, reflective\, and distinctly contemporary\, G’ddy Up! offers a fresh perspective on the imagery and traditions that continue to define Stampede season and life in the modern West.
